SmallHD Cine13 common bug fixes
Hey there!
It's been two months since I got my hands on the new SmallHD Cine13 and I must say that I'm impressed with it's performance. The brightness, the pixel density of the screen and the rear connections work like a charm.
Despite of all those points in favor, I've noticed that it still has some bugs which need to be solved, as it seems like SmallHD released the monitor without it's full capabilities and we're going to need a software update for some bugs.
I'm listing below some of the bugs I've noticed during the time I've shot with it. I'd love to know if any other owners/rentals have noticed the same, so that maybe we can push they guys at SmallHD for a fix to them:
- 1 to 8 user buttons do not light up. Although they do light up slightly when the monitor boots up, I can't get them to light up (even turning the led keypad setting to its maximum). That is very annoying, as it makes recognizing user buttons very difficult in the darkness.
- You can select a "Multi View" for a user button, but it just does nothing. What's the use of having 4x Ins + 4x Outs if you can't even see 2x of them simultaneously? I mean, even the 703 has had that feature on for a long time.
- When using a Teradek 4k LT receiver, and connecting the OUTPUT to the sdi 1 input on the monitor, the signal keeps on flicking on and off at 3 secons interval. Although if I use an HDMI to get the signal from the receiver, it works just fine.
- Sometimes SDI 1 doesn't get any signal until I turn on/off the monitor
- When shooting in cold envirorments (0 to 10 degreess Celsius) I've noticed that the monitor has some kind of shutter / image echo issue. It just feels as if the image is being displayed at 360 degrees shutter (when in fact it's set up at 180). Once it gets warm and running, that problem seems to disappear. (Will post a video about it comparing it to my 702 monitor)
Thank you all in advance for sharing your experience!

I didnt even realize the user buttons were supposed to light up! I also have the same issue with sdi one not working without a reboot. Sometimes it happens after changing batteries, making me wonder if theres some type of voltage protection happening.
