Hi Laird

How come with the new firmware updates (CineRT/Arri) in focus tracking mode that the focus is thrown to infinity when CineRT looses its readings?

It renders the focus tracking mode useless IMO as the motor will pull the focus back and forth from reading to infinity.

This wasn't the case before the firmware upgrades and focus tracking was really useful especially between takes to relax the wrist 😊.

I can't say if it's a Arri issue or a CineRT issue. But the issue was there even before the new firmware 24.06.

Tbh I'm considering downgrading again to hopefully get this functionality back 😄

Thanks,

Hi Henrik. We tested the Cine RT and Hi-5 today with both the RIA-1 and LCUBE/cForce RF Motor. The Cine RT was running V.24 and the ARRI components are all up to date with the latest firmware. I can confirm that when sending the Hi-Speed serial output, distance readings will simply hang on the last value when the Cine RT does not have a target (NT) in Focus Tracking - thus not throwing to infinity but staying in place until a new reading is received.

When outputting ARRI Classic the readings will throw to infinity when there is no target (NT). So anyone who is using an old Uni-Directional Serial or Y cables and ARRI Classic (as a Bi-Directional cable is required to send Hi-Speed) will have readings throw to infinity when there are no targets to report. We'll discuss this with ARRI ECS and see if a fix can be implemented.

Best,

Laird
