Internal filters ND3 increments on Arri cameras any time soon?
Hello everyone,
I would like to raise a question and a suggestion that I'm sure there are more people having the same mind as me and the DoP I normally work with:
Having only 2 stops of increments on internal ND filters on most Arri cameras, it's a clear disadvantage compared to Sony cameras. It's a complain I often get from the DoP's that I work with and on certain projects, it's a decisive factor on choosing a camera brand or another. So th implications on not having ND3 increments can be potentially huge.
I spoke to an Arri representative in the past BSC in London and he mentioned that the way Sony developed their filters system is patented and can not be used by anyone else.
Is there a way for Arri (I'm sure they are working on it) to produce ND3 increments internally in the camera? It would make workflow for DoP's and camera departments much easier and a true delight.
I would like to ask the community for their personal experience about this topic too?
Any ideas or inputs?
Many thanks and looking forward to your comments!

I hope that they’ve cracked the code now and will implement it on future Alexas.
