Alexa 35/ OCU-1/ Cforce mini RF overide not functional

Hello all,

I recently ran into a problem that to my understanding should've been corrected in a previous firmware update. My setup is as follows;

-Alexa 35, most current SUP, acting as the radio controller

-Arri Hi-5, most current SUP

-Cforce Mini RF on focus, Cforce mini on Iris

-OCU-1 mounted on camera

-Focusbug base unit connected via y cable to serial port on camera

-Lbus to Lbus, lens port to RF motor

-Cam7 to Lbus, rf motor to Cforce mini,

-Lbus to lbus, Cforce mini to RF

-lenses mapped and LDS loaded

I could not get the OCU-1 to control the focus axis while the RF motor was being used for focus. I changed the order in which the OCU and Cforce mini were daisy chained, tried power cycling. In the end I deleted the Iris axis and used the Cforce mini just on focus, afterwords focus was able to over ridden. Also, the hue of green on the focus axis on the OCU-1 screen was less vibrant when the RF motor was failing to function. I believe it said, 'no control'.

During the course of the shoot, the OCU over ride suddenly ceased to function, which I solved by power cycling my hi-5.

Other Alexa 35 ECS hiccups on this shoot:

-I could not get b-cam Alexa 35 w/ Hi-5 and Cforce mini cabled from Lbus port to function at all, no focus or Iris control, until I tried moving the Lbus cable from the lens mount to the Lbus body port, then it returned to normal.

Cheers!

-Julian

Please let us know if/when you hear from ARRI about the LBUS port power limit differences. The A35 manual lists the LBUS port as having regulated 24V 4A max, but doesn't specify between them. The MiniLF manual lists its LBUS port (on the mount) as having a reg 24V 2A max. Maybe it's a limitation of the lens mount? Or maybe the two ports are the same on the A35 body? I'm super curious.

I've also found that the more bells and whistles I add, the more specific all of my cabling and settings need to be in order to make things work as expected… Especially while different device firmwares are still all getting caught up to the same page. Here's hoping these issues fade away as time goes by.
