Arri ECS Sync APP software UNACCEPTABLE BUG (URGENT)

Hey guys,

This is Hector writing from Barcelona. Today I came across one of the most unpleasant experiences using my Arri Hi-5 ECS. I've owned one since the very release date and I've always felt super comfortable witht he way the ECS Sync app works.

Today, after trying to import some LDA'S with a .zip file from my iphone, I found all my internal ECS app LDA files deleted.

Here's how it worked: (find attached a video of the process)

-A focus puller who's a friend of mine prepped one of my jobs and sent me a .zip file containing some Cooke S4's he did himself with his hi-5

-I downloaded that .zip and sent it to my files app on my Iphone

-When in the app, I tried to press the "import" button on the bottom side of the screen in the Device, but it didn't work.

-Next thing I did was pressing that same "import" button on my root folder on the phone menu.

-Once imported, every single LDA transfered successfully, but these LDA's overwrote every existing element on the root folder.

At first I freaked out as I saw my lens files, ring files and user setup folders nowhere in the root of the phone. Closed the app, opened again and they were there again, but to my surprise all of the folders were empty.

I immediately erased my whole iPhone and tried to back it up with an iCloud copy (the most recent one was from yesterday!). But again and to my surprise, iCloud just saves the fact that you have the app downloaded. It doesn't save any files contained IN the app. After some talks with apple support, they told me that this is something the developer of the app should fix, and not their issue.

I am basically writing down these lines to warn you all about this software issue. It should be solve ASAP so that no one loses all this work again @arri.

In my case, and as I own my own handset, I had several hundreds of lenses on my app, sorted by rentals, models, brands, etc. Now I know that I can NOT trust the app to save my LDA files anymore, nor should anyone do so.

If I can help you with anything, please comment here or send me a DM.

Best,

I have all my LDA files on iCloud and just import what I need for the job. With new lenses, after mapping them, I just upload it to my LDA folder on ICloud. ECS app and ICloud download/ upload works fine.
