Lens Won't Focus At The Accurate Distance.

Hello pros, I was on set few days ago on a feature film, I was called on impromptu and when I requested to do a gear check but unfortunately I was told that the gears has not been confirmed yet, until around 8 PM a night to our flight to film destinated location, which was a very remote area, so I was called only to confirm the gears and there is no room for through checking, so I was only given an opportunity to confirm what's on the list and what rental company is providing. After the confirmation we flew to location the following morning, and I had these set of lens (11-16mm, 24mm, 50mm and 85mm) Only to discover that 24mm won't focus at some actual range. Especially at distance between 15ft upward so for me to have an object 15ft in focus, I had to pull between 30ft to 80ft, before I could have the object in focus, I removed it from camera and put it back again I recalibrated it several times but all to no avail. I even had to use depth of field calculator using different T. Stop, but the result I keep getting never accurate with the results I'm getting from the lens. Does that mean the lens is damaged? Although I managed to used it though, I will just like hear different opinions from anyone who might have experienced it before and how did you deal with such situations.

That's possible though, but not on my set, and when I talked to the cam tech that followed the equipment from the rental company, he answered like he already know that it came like that.
