Problem offloading ARRIRAW on Silverstack
Hello, more of a 2nd AC/DIT issue here but maybe someone can help.
I'm quite new to data management and offloading and I ran into an issue on my last shoot, where I was 1st AC without a 2nd, and I had to handle data myself. A little guidance would be greatly appreciated, as I another similar shoot coming up.
We were shooting on the Alexa mini LF in ARRIRAW 3.8K LF 16:9-UHD and a double offload on Silverstack took more than 10 hours for a 1TB Codex card.
I was using 2TB and 1TB CODEX cards, new Samsung T7 2TB disks to offload onto and a MacBook Pro 16" with Touch Bar (I7 2.6Ghz, 16GB Ram, AMD Radeon pro 5300M), rented along with Silverstack licence (so I assume mac OS and Silverstack were up to date, I'm not 100% sure).
The drives were formated in EXFAT ( I know now that's a bad Idea, I will be using APFS from now on).
During prep I had time only to fill 1x 2TB cars and 1x 1TB card, and offloading those appeared to be really long too, I didn't have time to check all of them.
I was using xxHash64 checksum. On set, the offload time kept increasing without ever decreasing.
For verification coverage I used "included in copy job" but I also tried "All destinations, with source" and "No verification, file size check only", but the time kept increasing over very long periods. ( I didn't change other settings in Silverstack)
After 3 hours, I stopped the offloads (Silverstack was showing there were still 9 hours left) to try with DaVinci clone tool, where I had the same problem of very long duration constantly increasing.
In the end, I reluctantly resorted to doing a simple copy/paste, which took 1.5 hours, and continued to do backups like that for the rest of the shoot because timing was really tight.
I don't think cables or disks were the issue as the copy/paste "method" was rather fast on both disks, but let me know.
Is it normal to have offloads of more than 10 hours for 1 TB of ARRIRAW? From my research I feel like it's not and something went wrong.
I didn't have the Codex software installed, maybe it comes from here ?
I don't know where the problem could be coming from. How do you usually do similar offloads for this type of setup with Silverstack in the fastest and most secure way possible?
Thanks a lot !
