MONITOR RIGS

Hi gang,

Looks like I’m starting a focus pulling job soon and keen to know how you all build a work station. Specifically mounting brackets/solutions/arms for monitor/handset/cine RT so they can be moved quickly if need be.

I’ll be using a Small HD 703 and a (most likely ) WCU 4.

Im thinking of attaching a small cheese plate to the top of my stand, and attaching some quick releases and noga arms to the monitor/handset/teradek/display so I can have them at various angles, but I also want to be able to quick release the monitor and handset off and click together to have a “handheld” monitor/handset mode when needed.

I know I’ll use some sort WCU 4 monitor bracket...but keen to know what brackets and mounts you use to keep everything together.

Any thoughts/pictures would be awesome, as I don’t want it to look like a Franken-Rig from hell!! Ha!

Thanks very much,

Graham

Hey Graham, welcome on board! First of all you should check out the focus station challenge in here, there are some amazing ideas there you can get inspired from. As for me, I use ultralight control system arms, bits and pieces and I’m really happy with that, since they are very lightweight but they hold your system firmly. Kondor blue quick release are my go to now, I used small rig but they were a bit hefty. To me the key is to put a quick release on top of the monitor bracket and another one on the bottom of the monitor, so you can switch fast to hand held to stand. If you go a lot hand held I suggest a long dtap male-female cable and a vmount (if you using this kind of batteries) clip belt. Also, if you are in a studio, consider to add a rolling spreader (if your stand doesn’t have wheels) to your kit. There are some universal rolling spreaders out there that fit any stand, I bought one and changed my life. Here some pics of wcu4 and cPro set ups, if you have any further question let me know!
