Cinetape Autofocus?

Hey all,

Wondering if it is possible to enable Autofocus with Cinetape on a Preston system? I see a lot of data on the LR2 and CineRT with Cmotion systems, but nothing on Preston systems... I've got a Preston HU3 and MDR2.

If not, is the LR2 the ONLY way to get any kind of autofocus on a Preston system?

Disclaimer: Of course, I would not rely on autofocus. Just curious about the other tools out there.

With the LR2, there are two autofocus features, full AF and hybrid AF (where the system pulls in auto until it hits a certain point, then hands control over to the puller). That said, yes, the LR2 is the only way to get focus tracking of any kind with a Preston. Connecting a CineTape or CineRT system will get you a distance readout on the hand unit, but that’s it. And it’s also worth mentioning that while the CineTape will work with an MDR2, the LR2 and CineRT require an MDR3 or 4 to work.
