MDR.M/MDR.X Placement

Hey RT Users.

I do a lot of work with RED cameras and use mostly my MDR.M with a single motor in my setups.

I find the orientation of the MDR.M less than ergonomic and would love to see some images of builds you guys have put together using either the MDR.M or the MDR.X for some motivation on placements/mounting points.

Hello!

@Christian Collins I'm working right now and for the very first time with the Teradek RT system. Here some pics of my setup. Actually I placed the MDR.X directly to my Ratworks Cube Bar. For me was the perfect place to put it, no need re-place it for different setups (Steadi, ronin) or striping the camera.

Ctrl.3 questions

Just started playing with my new Ctrl.3 from the group buy and wanted to troubleshoot some stuff. It seems that the focus response cuts out randomly around 20 feet away sometimes but this only seems to be when there's a wireless tx or a lot of metal around. Wanted to see if there's any advice on possibly which channel/frequency to switch to so this doesn't happen? Also sometimes it will randomly auto calibrate, not sure if that's a power issue maybe? Any tips would be much appreciated, thank you!

@Peter Kelesis have you changed the wireless power setting? This can be found in the menu under WIRELESS, POWER. It may be your system is set to LOW. Our systems use FHSS

The transmitter hops a very large number of times per second between 43 narrow (1.07 MHz) channels across the entire 2400 - 2483.5 MHz frequency range.

Changing the user-selectable “Channel” does not restrict the emission to any part of the 2.4GHz range: it only changes the pseudo-random hop sequence.

Therefore: the effective emission on any single part of the 2400 - 2483.5 MHz range is extremely small.

Any interference with other devices will be slight and consistent: the device will raise the noise-floor of other devices operating in the 2.4GHz range very slightly but will never interfere in a significant way.

The interference will not change (get better or worse) regardless of which “Channel” the RTMotion device is set to, because this will not change the emission profile; only the order of the pseudo-random hop sequence. Regarding the re-calibrating. How are you powering the system? If not directly from a battery 7-18V (Do Not Power Directly from a TB50), the motors draw can exceed certain limited power outputs. While from a battery is the desirable power source there are torque limiting setting in the MOTORS section of the menu where the user can limit the motor draw that can assist in staying under a limited source ceiling. Please reach out if you require further assistance.

Teradek RT Custom AUX integration

I'm looking to make up my own AUX control for the Teradek RT MDRx or MDR3.1 as I have access to both. The primary use case would be to control the motors with an R/C controller using the S.Bus protocol (I'll handle that part).

What I'm looking for is any information on the UART protocol for these two units. Anyone have any insight?

Teradek CTRL.3 Bluetooth

Hello,

Recently picked up the CRTL.3 FIZ unit and for some reason my hand unit won‘t show up when I turn the Bluetooth on in the RT app. Any suggestions?

Thank you
