2eyetec Macroring - on Anamorphics
Hi everyone,
does anybody have any experiences with the 2eyetec Macroring ? Especially in conjunction with anamorphic lenses. 2eyetec does only talk about using it with spherical lenses on their website and we're currently looking at alternatives for diopters for expanding the close focus on some Hawk Anamorphics.
Let me know what you guys think. Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Franco,
thanks for asking! Unfortunately it won't work with anamorphic lenses as far as we know. Up to my knowledge this is due to the nature of anamorphic lenses, which makes them very sensitive to any change of the Flange Focal Distance (eg. ARRI PL 52,00mm). As Macro Rings (and all other mechanical close focus adapters) use the increased Flange focal distance to reduce the close focus you would end up with a picture that's either "kind of in focus" with the horizontal focal length or with the vertical, but never both at the same time.
I hope the explanation makes sense (-;
We tried it on some anamorphic lenses with the mentioned results, but if anyone here had better results, I'm happy to be proven wrong!
But for your problem, I think you will have to stick to the diopters.
