Scorpio FIZ ScorpioFIZ technical-question By Eve Carreño on 2/19/19, 8:49 AM • 426 views Has anyone used the Scorpio FIZ control to do contrazooms? In my experience the zoom tends to give itself a mark at an end of the lens at its own accord. Any idea why this happens?
Philippe Piron On 2/23/20, 5:19 PM hello, new on this forum ... I used extensively the SCORPIO CONTRAZOOM (aka Scorpio Motion Generator) system, I was one of their first clients by the way in 1990 ! I still own it (it's for sale) but got rid of my SCORPIOFOCUS units (2 of them) lately. This is a great system, it works really fine. But you do not have to program too much positions ... the simplest the best. you can program up to 60 positions, but like you would do using a MoCo, you'd first see a result programing start and stop, and then fine tune if necessary. With the Scorpio Motion Generator, I try to keep it simpk;e and it works fine you can so link track to zoom (contrazoom) with/without auto focus tracking ... Sometimes it's better to keep manual control on the focus, sometimes it's beter to have auto focus, especially if you end up close-up and very tight (the actor has no stay really fixed then !) I even made it ending up close -up on the eyes ... actor sitting, and resting his head along a post hidden by his body : we made a track in and zoom in and it was dead sharp !
