Eclipse Fluid terrible? & Whats Your Favorite Lens Cleaning Fluid and Cloth Combo? lens lenses By Samuel on 12/6/19, 9:47 PM • 413 views Hiya Focus Pullers Just was cleaning a personal lens with Eclipse Lens cleaner fluid after I read there claim it was "the highest purity lens cleaner available. It dries as quickly as it can be applied, leaving absolutely no residue" And wow what garbage fluid, left residue all over my lens the pec pads sucked and it didn't dry quickly at all, it also left a sticky feeling... So I put some pancro with a microfiber cloth 10x better result.
Anyone here used Eclipse fluid and had this? Your Thoughts and would love to know what your combos are in terms of optics cleaning! ERIC UGLAND On 12/8/19, 2:58 AM Pancro is the industry standard, and it works well. A bottle will last a year or 2 easily. That in combination with rosco lens tissue or Kimtech Wipes is all you need. E. Roni Beraha On 12/8/19, 10:50 AM I totally agree with the above comment. Never the less, there are some times, even pancro with rosco or Kimtech combination can leave a residue depending on the weather conditions. A breath and a clean t shirt does the trick. Regards bart van otterdijk On 12/8/19, 10:59 AM Haha :-) I always joke to my assistants and trainees that they should drink enough beers the night before shooting to have sufficient alcohol on their breath as a natural lens cleaner.. But honestly.. Pancro is the best I know of. Never used Eclipse. Don't like the rosco fluid. b! Chris Steel On 3/18/20, 8:59 PM I use Eclipse all the time. I have had an issue where some grease was picked up and moved over the lens during light cleaning but going back in and doing a more thorough clean with Eclipse and Kim wipes worked great. I always apply a single drop to a folded Kim wipe then wait a few seconds for the fluid to start to flash off then start cleaning. I do this when I use any fluid as I find I get better results. I like panchro, it's somewhat similar to CaloCoat spray which I also carry. I've used PEC pads and they're ok. They'er supposed to be the best thing for delicate coatings so when I eventually run out of Kims (I have the massive grey box) I'll switch to PECs. I have rosco fluid and wipes as backup in my kit but I don't really like them. Usually use those to clean the directors glasses or the steadicam ops screen.
Douglas Birch On 12/11/19, 3:27 AM I used Eclipse once and had the same problem you were having. Pancro and kimtech has always worked for me. I also would be hesitant to use microfiber cloth as any wipe that is reusable can gather dirt or dust over time which you would be applying back on to the lens.
