If I was wanting to have FIZ metadata recorded in camera then I understand certain steps are required (Arri Mini / Mini LF need both the LBUS and EXT connected, Venice needs a CAMIN and both 12P Hirose as well as 8P Hirose connected, Red just needs the dedicated Y-Split cable - then Sync Cam Data turned on in the cPro motor or via CAMIN), but the one thing I've read in the manual that raises questions is this:
"To ensure lens metadata is recorded correctly, the motor direction (for ALL motors) must be assigned to LEFT in the camera menu" (page 74) Most assistants I know mount motors on the right (dumb/assistant side), so I assume if we did so but mounted them upside down if that still gives correct metadata readouts?
In Zach L Rogers video he shows that as he is hanging his motor on the right then you'd in fact select "left". Doing so this seems to support my previous assumption/question. This of course raises the question about folks who want/need to mount motors on the right side of camera in an upright position (example: on a long zoom off of a 19mm rod) - how do we ensure correct metadata is being passed over to camera correctly then? Finally, and it's an aside really, when would anyone turn the motor menu option "Sync cam data", off? The data is overridden when a lens file loaded in the cPro, so in the event a lens was not registering correct information (Cooke, I'm looking at you!) for the lenses LDS then we'd need to map out the lens anyway. I assume there is a specific situation where turning it off will be necessary, but it seems to me that "on" should be the default.
