Sony Venice in combination with the Cable CAM (7p) - ENG (12p) cables cmotion cpro Sony Venice By David Oliver Gaiser on 6/1/19, 11:29 AM • 512 views Heyho, I am currently testing the Venice with my cPro in combination with the F55-Cable. Which is fine, everything is working as it should be. But then I was wondering about this Lens-port under the RS-port... And look at you, cmotion got a cable for it. At least I think it is this ENG (12p). And know I am really curious about what will happen if you would use this cable instead of the F55... Any Ideas? Best David Fabio On 6/3/19, 10:58 PM As far as I’m aware of (but maybe I’m wrong, if so please let me know) a camera readout through the irose port or the 24v 3pin RS is possible, but it’s up to the brand (in this case Sony) to, so to speak, open the gate. Once this is implemented, lcs system such as cPro, wcu4 and Preston HU should be able to get camera info through those ports. Cheers!
David Oliver Gaiser On 6/3/19, 11:30 PM ah ok, thanks, I've been told that Hirose and RS can't do it, but maybe my infos are old. For now, I am happy that I can see a red Record on my cPro because of the Hirose-Cable. Unfortunately, I don't have a tally function when I am using the RS-Cam-Cable. I was just wondering why there is this huge lens port, why Sony put it there and then I saw that cmotion offered this cable and I was wondering, maybe this port can do something which the hirose can't for now. Maybe try and error is the solution;) cheers Aidan Gray On 6/3/19, 9:40 PM I've never used the Venice and cPro with the 12-pin lens cable as the last time I used them together it was V2.0 where the lens connector wasn't active... I'm just as curious as you are, I do just want to say that if you're having problems with the lens connector, try enabling it in the System Configuration menu - it should be enabled by default, but you never know. Maybe Dennis from cmotion can chime in here as he was my contact when I first started working with the Venice... Paul Healy at Sony has said that theres no camera control via the lens port and currently the only way they're offering that currently is via the ethernet or wireless dongle, not that its relevant to cPro just yet.
David Oliver Gaiser On 6/3/19, 10:07 PM Thanks for the response and the tip, I'll keep it in mind;) Maybe I'll write Dennis and ask him. I am also curious how Preston will fix the camera control on their new HU4 because I think the new Preston will offer Camera Control for Venice. Don't know if the Hirose port can offer Camera Read-out and control. What do you think?
