Lens data to RED Epic-W cpro lens-data lens-data-cPRO RED camera By Erik Andersson on 5/30/20, 10:35 AM • 102 views Hello! Anyone who has tried getting lens info from the Cpro in to the RED Epic-W metadata (with the DATA lincense)? I'm mostly curious which settings in the (wonderful) RED menus i need to adjust to get this working. And also which RED firmware this works on. Will the RED recieve and record all the info (zoom value, iris value and focus value) into the metadata? Is it possible to display all the info (zoom, iris, focus) in the monitor? I haven't got access to the actual camera until the day before the shoot starts, and my camera prepp time is extremely limited so I figred I'd get as much info as possible on this subject in advance.
Aidan Gray On 5/30/20, 3:30 PM Hey Erik, Not sure if the new cPro manual has made its way out into the world yet but it does describe the RED metadata process - what cmotion does is store the FIZ values in an unused metadata slot (Slot 6) that can be extracted via a command-line tool referred to as “REDLine”. Unfortunately, this means you can’t display the values on a screen nor will they show up in REDCine-X as Max/Min FIZ values. From what I’ve been told, the only way to store lens data values in the F/I/Z metadata slots of the RED is to use the ET Protocol, but then you lose camera control (RCP). Myself and a couple of my friends have sent some emails to RED to try to petition the availability of F/I/Z values in the RCP protocol but haven’t heard anything back unfortunately... Hope this answers your question!
