DoF calculation with set iris By Max Dewoon on 4/27/20, 12:04 PM • 212 views Hi! I love the "set iris" iris function and the possibility to get a DoF calculation without the use of a motor on the iris. But there is a lot of limitations with it and I think that with a few fixes it would be perfect. 1. Why do you need a mapped iris scale for it to work? a lot of times I don't have the time to mapp the iris of all the lenses during the prepp. Since it is only a calculation from a number? Would it be possible to get the calculation without the scale so you would only enter any possible iris value to get a result? 2. There is no user button for "set iris". Would it be possible to add one? 3. Or even better! Even without a iris motor, why not be able to use the iris slider and a pre-marked iris scale to set this possible iris value? This would make everything work so much faster. The possibilities with the cpro is unlimited! Take care! /Max

We were also thinking of the option of changing the iris by the slider, even if no motor attached, but it didn`t make it into the upcoming release yet. But it is definitely on the list! Aidan Gray On 4/28/20, 9:51 AM Like Clemens said, the "Set Iris" function is going to be available for all lenses in SW4.0 - it works nicely and its easy to get to via the Lens menu. Personally, I don't think I'd ever set it on a User Button - we're going to run out of room :D This feature is going to become more and more important in the future so I'm glad they've addressed making it easy to change. Interesting idea with having the slider control the "digital" iris value... Curious how that would be implemented from the UI side of things because I could see situations where it would be nice to have, and situations where it might really mess a shot up if you're using focus assist via cvision or a rangefinder so that would just be something to think about.
