I am in the process of purchasing a Cmotion CPro Unit and am still unclear about the motor selection.
What is the exact difference between the CPRO Red-coded RF motors and the Arri White-coded ones?
Is the answer really as simple as: One is for Arri, the other for CPRO?
I understand that they are not compatable, but why??
You are right: The red coded RF motor is for the cPRO, while the white coded is for ARRI.
While the motor mechanics are the same, the cPRO is using a different protocol, as the ARRI RF. This has the effect, that they are not compatible. The cPRO motor is based on the LBUS protocol which allows keeping the data packages as slim as possible. It also enables an independent development, when it comes to implementing new software features.
My personal feel on hands is than Arri White RF, work perfect without delay when you are using CLM-3,4,5 motors but has a little delay when you are using with Cforce (LBUS protocol). I feel the Red RF of Cpro work perfect very responsive and without delay with Cforce/LBUS motors. I don’t know if the reason of this is than Arri RF was designed for passive motors and the encode of RF it’s optimized for this and now need a “transcode” of info on motor for read the Can-bus info on motor.
But finally I fell the Red RF-Cpro more responsive if you are using Cforce motors.
