Soft Tape toolbag By Gunnar Mortensen on 3/1/19, 1:43 PM • 2,208 views The most important tool in my kit is my soft tape measure. It does so much more than just measure . I use it to build rapport with the Actors, if the 1st AD is trying to rush me, I use it to pump the brakes to collect my self before we roll
Gunnar Mortensen On 3/3/19, 11:23 PM Bright Tangerine is the one I use. I keep my original rabones tucked away at home
Yevgeniy Bubley On 3/7/19, 9:20 PM i like all technology(analog & digital)

Clemens Hönig On 3/7/19, 9:33 PM Nice!
Rozemarijn On 3/3/19, 12:56 PM I was just thinking about this, we never use this in Holland, but i was thinking about buying one. And you pushed me over the edge. Any tips for a pretty one? Clemens Hönig On 3/3/19, 1:54 PM I like the bright tangerine Soft tape: It has both metric and imperial. Nice old school touch and lifetime quality.

Fabio On 3/8/19, 10:08 AM Another vote for brighttangerine! Classy, with metric and imperial scales and with the perfect size. If you are lucky enough to have time to use it is definitely my favorite!
Philipp Uhl On 3/8/19, 12:46 PM I really like this one because it has a triangular-shaped ending so you can hook it into the film-plane pin on the camera easily: Unfortunately I'm not really sure about what manufacturer that is, but Prisma sells them both with imperial/metric or metric/metric: https://www.prisma.film/measuring-tape-10m-cm-inch-pointed-beginning

By the way in case you don't know Prisma: Thats a great shop for getting AC supplies in Europe!
Clemens Hönig On 3/8/19, 12:59 PM The triangle is smart!
Timothy Tan On 4/17/19, 2:11 AM Thanks for all the support and feedback on our soft tape. we still have the brown tape measures available. https://www.brighttangerine.com/store/leather-encased-fabric-tape-measure-10m-33f-brown/ Clemens Hönig On 4/23/19, 8:23 PM Thanks for the information. Good to see people from the industry joining the forum as well! Welcome!
Philippe Piron On 2/23/20, 4:28 PM Vantage Film is selling nice ones, like "Rabone" tape measures used to be (until discontinued) I still have an original "Rabone" available for sale (new)
Chris Steel On 3/19/20, 4:40 PM Do you have a link? I can't find it on the Vantage website or in a search
Philippe Piron On 2/23/20, 4:37 PM for those who never used the tape measure, a very good tip from an "old timer" focus puller: how many times have you had troubles measuring with laser pointer because people on set don't really care about AC's taking their measurements ... they cross frame all the time, whatever your position is: nearby the camera or at the actor position pointing towards your camera (or the operator's hand giving you help) ... IF you suddenly use a tape measure (like we all did in the past before laser pointer became available +/- mid 90's) you'll see how quiet and peaceful the set suddenly turns ... everyone just realize THIS IS YOUR TIME ... I tended to avoid using the tape measure for years when lasers came in, but got so much time fed up about irrespect of our work that I turned back to tape measures when needed ... and I was stunned about people's reaction on set ... some did not even know what I was doing, actors/actresses all knew what it was, but everyone (those disturbing you usually) became quiet and let me do !!!! Nathan Lederman On 8/21/19, 9:38 PM Thumbs up for the Bright Tangerine one. Own the brown one, really happy with it.
