Hello all, I wanted to share with the community a new Light Ranger Video Overlay Unit bracket that the great gents at Upgrade Innovations and I have been working on these past few weeks. I shared a similar post in a camera assistant Facebook group and got great feedback, so just wanted to spread the word around. The Upgrade Innovations guys were also excited about the feedback and wanted to put together a first pass group-buy for anyone interested.
This bracket will replace the stock SmallHD cheese plate on a 1303, and sandwich the Light Ranger VOU right to the back of the monitor. It will only add 2.2" of height to the top of the monitor, while still keeping available the full control of the Light Ranger buttons.
The plate itself is half the weight of the SmallHD plate, and has thread patterns for Gold and V-Mount battery plates in both horizontal and vertical orientations. You can also change battery plate positions without removing the VOU mount, so if you switch wireless receivers mid-job you don't need to disassemble the monitor.
The mounting plate lets you access the 100mm VESA holes on the back of the monitor, and has space for numerous monitor mounts including all of Upgrade Innovations' lineup with their add-ons, the SmallHD mount, and the Matthews mount. There are also thread-holes all around the plate with 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 with anti-twist holes, and space to include Upgrade Innovations, 16x9, or 3rd party non-twist Cinelock cradles.
The final product will be black-anodized. If you're interested in participating in the group-buy discount - shoot me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and I can send the info your way! Also happy to answer any questions or hear feedback about the plate here.
