Hello everyone,
Is it possible to take an existing LDA file you made of a lens with only the focus axis, edit the LDA file in the WCU-4 hand-unit and add the iris axis to the LDA file? Or do I have to make a new LDA file of the lens?
How do you use those files? When you only have a focus motor rigged, do you use an LDA file with only the focus axis programmed? Or can you use an LDA file with focus and iris programmed?
Let me know! Thanks in advance!
Unfortunately, currently you cannot add an axis to a LDA file after you have created it. However, you can always use files that have more axes programmed than motors in use. In other words, if you have a file that has all three motors programmed but you only want to use a focus motor (or any other motor) that's fine. There are two other options to edit files that have a motor programmed, one is the slide function and one is the snap function. These are a little more complicated but are quite fun to explore at a prep.
Thanks for the response! I was on set with a DP I frequently work with and I had the LDA files for his lenses but only the Focus axis was programmed since he wants to control the Iris himself most of the time. But today we're on a crane the whole day so it would've been nice if I could add the Iris axis to the files so the DP can see the iris values on his video-feed. Nevertheless, I remade the lens-files.
